It could be either, but it's likely it was a typo.  It happens here sometimes and we get tons of emails and calls from people searching our website wanting to make an offer quick.  We usually tell them that if the price were that low we'd be buying it ourselves...and then we laugh....and then we call the listing agent and make sure they know the mistake (which they generally do by then because they are also getting a million calls on it)...-Kasey

For the most part, we work to stay away from figuring out what people are up to.  We just deal with those who are above board.

Probably careless, a mistake like this only puts it into a category of buyers who would not be interested or able to buy it.

I would venture to say that it was just a typo/data entry but, Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 makes a great point. The strategies these MLMs are coming up with never cease to amaze me!

Lately I've seen price reductions by $100 every week - to get back to the top of the search engines!  And it's one particular company who does this!

Seems stupid at least in my market area. Can't see a benefit or I'd know about it. In fact in ours, we loose the initial inertia if we have to change the price or if it's input correctly. Then it's not a new list it's a price change.

I did that once, unintentionally of course, The Seller would have loved a $17,000,000 sale price but we settled for $1,700,000 instead. I do not see it as a marketingstrategy Hella. MLS voided my mistake from the history although you have to catch it quick enough.

I think some people are just goofs or keyboards stick.  Saw a few houses accidentally listed in the several hundred million dollar range (700m) and one that was listed for 3 grand once.  I called that 3 grand agent and said "I see you listed a house for 3 grand. I have the cash on me, where can I meet you?  I'll waive all the contingencies and even write with you."  We both laughed for quite some time about it.

By "ooo" amount.

It is a data entry issue. Contrary, it is more likely caused by delegation, and not because of an exhausted solo agent. VERY likely a team member with a MLM company.

The seller and agent agree to price $20,000 above expected sale price and establish a plan to reduce by 5K every week, restrict showings, and make clear what equals an acceptable offer.

Many MLSs make this strategy extremely beneficial and takes the control away from the buyer agent.

Hella - I would give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it was a typo, unless it is the same agent, or same brokerage doing it over and over again. I have seen some pretty fishy things in our MLS as well, and it has to do with DOM. They are somehow lowering the DOM back to 1 (making it look like a new listing), on a home that has been on the market for 100+ days, and I am not sure how they are doing it.

We have a rash of them in our MLS since they default 000 in the price, so for a 300k home, you type 300 unless you want a 300 million dollar price by adding 3 zeros

Could be either. Not sure why that would matter in the sense that regardless, whether I show it or not only comes down to: 1. do I have a buyer for it? 2. is my buyer interested in it?
