Hell no, we just like to hear ourselves talk.

Any time you're demonstrating your communication skills and ability to disseminate information to the masses, the more masses you can reach, the better.

The end game is, you're perceived as an expert in that subject you are writing about.

It's a Chinese bamboo plant. It takes forever for the first shoots to come up and then they grow to be 80 ft tall.

Not sure what post blogs to post blogs means. I share my posts on social media essentially to build "street cred."  Most of the activity I get on my virtual tours is from active rain, so somebody is looking at my posts and I doubt all that much traffic is from AR members. I can see the difference in views when I post to members only or to the public.

It works for me Jonathan Crompton . I think mainly because of the "Google juice" that I appear higher up the list of Minot Realtors if I did not participate. Am I swimming in clients because of AR.... no... but I enjoy being here so I'll stick around a long time.

I received a phone call this morning that I know was due to a post I had published some time in the past.   While ActiveRain was never mentioned,  I know AR is the source. The call did not result in any sign of a potential sale but I don't have that expectation.

Sure works for me, as long as they are not "Members only" posts the public and Google will see them.

And FB shares of these tends to magnify the effect.

Well just posting with no direction won't get you anywhere. You have to know SEO somewhat on who or what you want to target. If you use the wrong keywords you won't get picked up in Google & it's like going no where.

Use SEO strategies when writing posts.  Alt text behind images, long tail keywords, the works.   Be consistent.  Share or link your posts to your website, social media, WordPress, whatever else you have.

I suppose it depends on what your goal is. Are you linking your blog here to a blog on your website? Or vice versa? What you'll find is that reading the posts and the comments here...posting and commenting on the posts of others builds relationships that are why many of us love being in the community.

I was just in Google Analytics for my website and found that many pages that are linked from here actually rank quite a bit higher than if I don't have a link back to a post on my site. AR has some good Google juice so, post here and share away on your social media sites.

That type of sharing definitely helps you rank higher in Google and other search engines.

It SHOULD be getting your name and what you do out in the public. If it is not, you need to change what you write about. A steady mix of local events, market reports and stories with tips and advice work incredible for me. After referrals my Active Rain blog is my leading source for new clients

'Post blogs to post blogs"

If that is true, then blogging on AR is doing nothing for you.

Had you mentioned your blogs were to promote the unique home evaluation service or the depth of knowledge you have about (your location) buying and selling that has proven to be beneficial to your clients, with such purpose, the message can be honed to deliver measurable results.

Citizens are NOT shopping for you name but they are LOOKING for solutions to their perceived problems. Market your solutions not your name, then  make certain you embed the trace elements to measure your efforts.

Golden Rule Number ONE. Don't make AR your blog home. Use AR to feed (link to) your real blogging site.

Absolutely not. Go knock on 20 doors to the right and left of your latest listing and then walk across the street and do 20 more. You don't make squat doing this. I do it because I blog on my radio show, am very opinionated and LOVE to express it!

I searched you on line. You have ample of presence if people use internet looking for agents.

In my case, AR shows as top hits. Not sure people read blogs much.  They seem like Twitter etc better. None of the individual blogs show up. It used to list 3 blogs today nada.

If done well, yes it does.  Good titles. Great relevant content. Linking structure. Correct use of SEO and related tools.
Adding to that, the engagement with the community builds relationships and referrals.
