Unless it is extreme(which is rare)---the weather is not a big factor in Southern California. 

Usually inclimate weather slows traffic. In Chicago, parking may also be a problem!

Our opens depend more on the interest in the property. I have had lookers arrive at my open house in a snowstorm who came because they were interested in the property.

the "real buyers" come out in the bad weather....they NEED to buy a home.... 

Most usually cancel when it rains so as not to dirty up the house.  It's rare that it rains though.

It doesn't as I don't attend them!! Oh wait... you mean if I'm holding an open house? Still not a problem as I don't hold them.

About the only time they affect our open houses is when we have a sever blizzard Paul Weese which is seldom more than twice a year.

I suppose, to some degree it impacts how many attend but, for the most part, unless it's raining cats & dogs, if they're going to venture out for an open house, they're coming, rain or shine, hot or cold!

In the San Francisco Bay Area, weather is not a big factor with open house attendance.

When it rains, we blame low open house attendance on the rain.  When it's nice out we say that people had "nice weather" things to do.   And that's why I haven't done an open in 2+ years.  ;0

In my area, rain will keep them away.  Especially true if the following day's forecast is for a sunny day.

Heavy rain or snow could mean no one. Cloudy could mean busy and in summer hot and sunny means beach, not open houses

300+ days/year are sunny in SoCal, in those rare days that it is rainy, no one wants to see the house or even to drive. Holidays are also slowing down attendance as well.

Nothing like a good blizzard or grauple (smaller hail) to do in your planned open house. Don't do them anymore - too many things against you in the winter months like football too.

Ha, rain keeps them away, sunshine over 75 keeps them away too.

Bad weather, unrelenting rain, high winds and in my area of Florida, temperatures in the 50's is a clue to pick up the signs and do something productive. BUT.....if  a conversation earlier in the week advised the caller to come see the house during the Sunday open.....some obligation exists to stay or call the citizen back.

Sunny California, people are paying dearly for mild weather and sun.

The sunny days usually get more traffic.  

Bad weather - no one comes out; gorgeous weather - people choose other outdoor activities; can't win.

It can discourage some, but the serious will take advantage of bad weather thinking there will be less competition if they decide to write an offer.

It's really not an issue here in SoCal. Although on a beautiful beach day open house goers tend to show up later in the day.

Being summer is only a 3 month event here, a beautiful sunny beach day in the Summer is probably not the best time for an Open House. Day of or day after a snowstorms not wise either. 

If we get rain or snow in the City, the turnout is very low.  I usually look at the forecast before scheduling.
