No one wears a suit any more.  Used to be in the 80s/90s you wore a suit for everything.  Now it's only the more "formal" events like board installations, ceremonies, etc.

Cars and clothes are still important, but not as much any more.  The youngins' seem to be into flashy and pretending like they've made it already.

What's normal for some is considered odd for/by others.  I imagine this was true in the 1970s as well as true today and in the future too.

Didn't know there was/is a norm Richie Alan Naggar . I know what appeals to me. If I were to look for an agent today It would need to be someone I WANT to be around and someone I think would be a good negotiator if I was buying and a good marketer if I was selling.

Participation in social media - many wannabes who 'claim' to be something they're not - just like the glamour shots & financed fancy cars of the 70's!

Good inventive photos are necessary. You have to brand yourself.

For the last few years I've noticed that rarely do people ride in my car. I am reviewing my need for some 6'4" guy that plays football to show homes too.

There are some that still need that Mercedes.

Some are still into glamour shots - not many but I see a few even here in the rain.  Perhaps not as extreme as was in the 70's yet still more on glamour.

Things have changed ... and continue to change.

Experience assumed?  I do not know.  I would like to believe so.

Less glam in my world.  More casual and just being real and relatable. The focus is on service not how I look or how I am dressed.

Familiarity. That why we put pets in our pics hoping the other side has fond pet memories.

Approachable. It is easier to talk to someone with whom you share something familiar.

Trust. Not regarding business acumen but regarding ones back story. For instance, sharing a hurricane experience then revealing a portion of every dollar earned goes towards relief, makes others believe investing in the agent is a GOOD CAUSE.

As you notice...real estate doesn't matter much at all in regards to getting that first meet up.

Does anyone miss the BIG HAIR?

The doctor with blue jeans, no tie, blue oxford shirt, long hair and the stethoscope around his neck, carrying the aluminum clipboard. Once you hear his questions, see how the nurses respect his opinion, you could change your initial impression of the what to expect. How you do your job, your knowledge base but cleanliness, manners, being a good listener is just as important as whether you are wearing a light blue polyester leisure suit or a little league hat and coach's uniform or three piece suit hand tailored from the far east of silk and wool. Look and act professional and list, sell the biggest share of your market year after year and as long as you have clothes on all is good.

I guess, it is a person choice. After big names who wear the same outfits everyday to minimize the wasted time to make the choices, it is much more than how you look.

Here are in L.A. they always said: it is about who you know who knows someone who knows someone. Being connected became more important.

I wear slacks, a button down shirt & a sport jacket to client meetings. No tie, no suit. For work-casual it's khaki's & a sweater or polo shirt in summer.

I'm not sure about "glamour" shots, but a professional photo was the norm and professional attire.  It is a bit more relaxed, more "casual professional" but I think some people step over a bit too much in their attire.. and are more than a little too casual.

It depends on your target market and clientele. Sad to say we still see some glamour shots here but I've gone to two sets of business cards. One set is business casual and the other has no photo, which is used depends on the client.

The new normal here is boots on the ground local knowledge.

I think the answer to your question lies in your market.  In some places, a suit is a requirement. In others, you would be out of place wearing such an outfit.  If you are showing ranches, blue jeans and boots to be able to walk the property is essential.
