I don't take summer vacation as we live in a tourist town so it is like being on vacation. We do take a winter vacation it is a much slower time and can get away for a longer period of time without feeling too guilty however each year it has been getting longer. I do work while we are away except if there are showing then my partner that covers while I am away does the showings. My wife says it is not a true vacation as I am still working.

I've never counted them. I don't "give" myself vacation day. I take time off as and when I need to and/or want to. As Bob Crane said... we are not employees.

Vacation Days?  I didn't know we got them!  Hmmmm ... well I do try to go toi Arizona once or twice a year for a few days to visit my kids and grandkids ... but I take the laptop and still work as needed.

Just came back from 1 week in Palm Desert & Joshua Tree (no phone no email for work). I allow my self 4 weeks (off the grid) and I take 6 weeks usually...Yep, I steal 2 more weeks on a whim every year than I allow...oh yeah!

One week last month for rock climbing at Seneca Rocks.

Next week to revel on Florida's Atlantic beaches with a trip to visit Hemingway. Followed by a week of attending a series of Expos in Orlando.

It depends on how you define vacation days.  My husband and I always took about 6 weeks in the winter and other days throughout the year as the opportunities arose.  However, I took my work "equipment" and files so I could do anything I needed while away.

I tend to take them when necessary - no limit but, typically only about 10-14 a year. Certainly not what I had as a nurse but, I'm comfortable with that!
