I would focus on the property, unless you are doing a video specifically for buyers or sellers. The reality is they are going to meet you anyway! But if you cannot do a decent video in person, don't do it. Most people can

I think it could hurt. But you can get some coaching on how to act in front of a camera or microphone and it could make a huge difference.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so sometimes it is wise to let the photo's do the talking for you.

Debbie
I do not think that it would hurt to not be in front of the camera, but hearing you is a little more important. I guess it all depends on the type of video you are making.

It could hurt you Debbie. I think that the decision of you being "good or not so good" is subjective. You should ask people you trust to give you their opinion. In the end if you are not comfortable, hire a professional to create the video. Remember you are a Professional Realtor not Debbie Reynolds as in "Tammy".

If you are nervous that is natural. The hardest part is your head went blank do not recall your script.

For me it would be a source of humor. I do not do well in front of a camera, but one on one I am great.

If you won't be good in front of the camera, stay behind it! Me, I hate how I sound and look on camera, so I won't get in front of one.

It will hurt if they see and hear me. I would use a stand-in.

You can do all sorts of videos that do not require you to be photographed . I did a cartoon version on my business website at http://www. Ilrealestatespecialists.com

If you don't come across well in the video then either stay out of it or hire someone else to do the talking

Debbie,
Like Patricia Kennedy said, I would get coached and madeup and properly dressed. When we have appeared on TV, we were coached as to what to wear, and sent to makeup...However, if you never appear in a video or have videos for your business, you can still make a lot of money. I know several people who do in the high 6 figures and one who does 7 figures...and they don't do videos...A

I don't know.
Would showing a messy garage image hurt or help the sale of the house?
It all depends on how ugly it is.
The talents discomfort is entirely different than not good at delivering the message. To be honest, the "LESS SLICK" one appearance is, the more believable they will be perceived.
Know what you are going to say. Don't start making stuff up when the camera is recording.
If the audio is not well recorded, you may want to skip this addition completely.
DO not vocalize punctuation. That mean No, not even one, 'ahhh.'
Be your genuine self.
Many here on Active Rain do not understand the difference between vulnerability and weakness. You should have the courage to show vulnerability. It makes you real, not your typical 'smiley face' slick real estate agent.
Please be aware, it does not matter a whit what I or any other real estate agents thinks regarding this issue. We are all highly biased towards the way WE prefer to do business making our opinion equally biased and most likely, incorrect.
So, in the greatest exercise of vulnerability, make a few demo's and start soliciting opinions from those around you. Be sure to include a few strangers in that assessment. It is what they say that matters, not what you read here.

Debbie Reynolds I believe it will initially hurt your business. It takes practice and skill to be in front of the camera.

Shoot the property and narrate! Usually with coaching and practice you can wing it!

If you are not comfortable on camera, shoot the property and just narrate. You can even write & rehearse the script in your own natural way of speaking and simple read it. Rehearse & plan. I plan my shots around the story I want to tell. I also try to keep video 1-3 minutes maximum. You can take 2-3 versions and edit too; editing software for video comes free on every PC, it's what I use.

If you are not natural in fornt of the camera, step back! You only get one chance to make a good first impression. Ask some friends and acquaintances to review it.

If you can talk directly to a client and they do something based on your recommendation then your video will be fine. People are looking for authenticity so the real you is a good thing and the information you impart is the real thing.

I think it can hurt your credability. I remember once being asked to 'critique' a video from a women from the south. I thought she was too 'down home southern' for my tastes & many others agreed. She thinks she's special.
I believe you have to act & LOOK comfortable in front of the camera no mattre what region you are in.

I do not think, anyone want to hear or see the agent, they are shopping for a house, this is what they want to see. The rest is just marketing yourself.

I made mine short and stayed behind the camera. Had good feedback, next time I may get in front of the camera.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I do know that not being good in front of a camera is solved by being in front of a camera.
634,532
Get the focus off of you and on what you are selling. Shine by being great at presenting the property.
1,683,912
I think most people are not good at being in front of the camera at first, but in time they become more comfortable. It may be a good choice to make some videos and practice on the members of AR until then.
2,224,473
I think it would hurt.
I know you aren't talking about yourself. You are a natural in front of the camera.
