We now have one of the highest price states for housing in the country. Once a year in Florida we experience an event called Mini Lobster season and it causes a big stir here in south Florida. Mini-Season is a short two-day sport season when ONLY sportsmen are permitted to catch lobster. Commercial lobster boats and traps cannot begin harvesting until the official season begins on August 6th. The idea is that sportsmen have 2 days of unhindered lobster hunting before the commercial guys come in and pick up the lion's share of the bounty. This year officials estimate over 50,000 people will participate in the event. The event will take place on July 30th and 31 this year, good luck to all!
