The best professionals have a process for everything they do. Airline pilots, re-fuelers, mechanics, and flight attendants diligently and precisely follow the same pre-flight checklist prior to EVERY flight. We all depend on them doing this thoroughly because the stakes are very high. If they get sloppy, we all might perish. Same goes for Surgeons and Attorneys and Mortgage Loan Officers and REALTORS and auto mechanics . . . Well . . . and virtually anyone and everyone whose job is to serve others. In every transaction , there are 2 things . . . The Process . . . and the product (outcome). Those folks we serve expect and deserve a smooth process and mission accomplishment in terms of getting what we need and/or want in exchange for compensation. It follows on, then, that the PROCESS is ...

I did it anyway! My morning routine is a non-negotiable. It MUST be this way because I know that, on those days I fail to do it ALL, finding FLOW for the remainder of the day will be a futile pursuit. The cost of cheating is immeasurable in terms of lost opportunity, self-degradation, and the DANGER that playing hooky once will reprogram my brain into thinking that it’s OK to skip all or part of this critical morning discipline of spooling myself up Spiritually, Mentally, Physically . . . Once I’ve compromised this standard I’ve set for myself, I know that the next time I don’t feel like doing it, I’ll find it much easier to skip . . . because, after all, that first time I skipped, I didn’t feel like I lost any progress. This is a fool’s rationalization. The natural inclination of the b...

The Best Leaders – Always Present and InvisibleYesterday, the leadership of Greater Nashville REALTORS orchestrated a fantastic day of learning and colleagueship (fellowship) for our members. Traditionally, this association has been on a rhythm of quarterly “Membership Luncheons” at Nashville Music City Center (Our prized Convention Center in the Heart of the City). These luncheons were just that – Lunch – With a “key-note speaker” . . . The whole thing was @ an hour and a half, and had limited possibilities for attendees to interact with each other. YESTERDAY was #NASHONOMICS! (Google that hashtag for comments and photos) . . . WOW! 4 great “Panels of Experts” AND a Lunch Keynote Presentation by the National Association of REALTORS Chief Economist Lawrence Yun. The sessions were: A loo...

We all have a bajillion new concepts and ideas popping into out field of experience daily. Just think of all of the information that hits us in any given day. We’re surrounded by prolific digital information via Google, Facebook, Email, Videos, Podcasts . . . not to mention the never ending intrusion of information and ideas from the people around us who are equally bombarded and feel compelled to tell us all about these cool things, they’ve heard about by the prolific digital information via Google, Facebook, Email, Videos, Podcasts . . . not to mention the never ending intrusion of information and ideas the people around them who are equally bombarded and feel compelled to tell us all about these cools things, they’ve heard about – and so on – and so on – and so on. Having a map may not get you there! Not having a map might get you there. When you leave here, do you know where you want to go? So . . . You know where you want to go . . . Do you know how to get there? If not, we have lots of ways to help us navigate from here to there: Maps can be handy, but they may not get us there efficiently or possibly not at all because they are static. A map is not more than a description of the territory as it was when the map was drawn. Maps are not dynamic, and I saw proof of that when I was in the Army. We frequently practiced land navigation (AKA Orienteering) . Each person (or team) would receive a Topographical Map of the AO (Area of Operations) and a compass. Our task was to go from Point A to Point B then to point C etc until we reached the objective....

I sure get a LOT done on those days most other people are taking the day off. My plan for the week was to stay focused with my normal FLOW Monday-Thursday . . . and clean up of my accumulated messes today – Good Friday! Such a fabulous plan that was. Knowing this would be 4 days instead 5 for FLOW, I was super intentional all week and accomplished all goals for the week. This morning felt great because my work for the week was completed before the day started. I arrived in the office at 7:00 AM and dived into the project I’d been avoiding for weeks thinking that I would be lucky to make any reasonable dent in unraveling the fiasco, but I had hope. 3 hours later, I COMPLETED all of the work that needed to be done! The magic ingredient? Not a single interruption by any other human . . . 3...

When we are wrestling with important decisions, we seek clarity. Should I stay or should I go? Should I buy this? Is this “worth it”? (Time – Energy – Money) What’s the “Opportunity Cost” of opting for this instead of that? Is my judgement clouded by FOMO? (Fear of missing out) Who else cares about this? Should I consult with them before making a decision? What do the reviews say? So many questions, and the “deadline” looms. Maybe it’s time to do a Pros and Cons List. Grab a sheet of paper – Draw a Vertical line right down the middle, and label the left side “Pros” and the right side “Cons” . . . Oh! WAIT! Decide accordingly! I’m always available to meet with Real Estate agents looking for a new business home. I consider my “Barriers to entry” into a Real Estate sales career with Pareto Realty to be relatively low for the right people. There are only 3 requirements prior to scheduling one of these “Mutual Interviews”. The applicant must: go to http://tonyrobbins.com/DISC, complete the assessment, and email the results to Barry@ParetoRealty.com Provide your own version of a “Resume of Qualifications” Write a “blurb” about who you are and why you believe you and Pareto Realty are a good fit Amazingly . . . More than 1/2 the inquiries fail to complete these 3 things and never receive an invitation for an interview. Just think how many interviews don’t happen because of these 3 requirements . . . Interviews that...

What is it that you do that’s counter-productive? What are your bad habits that hang out with that dead moose under your desk/Bed/Dining room table? Ah yes! You DO know what these things are, and you can’t help but know about the dead moose because it’s really stinky, the cloud of flies is oh-so-distracting. Every day, you do your best to ignore or justify these bad habits, even as you (in the recesses of your mind) acknowledge to yourself that maintaining your relationship with these productivity destroyers is causing you to miss out on opportunities. YES! You are limiting your possibilities with this commitment to these unsavory practices, BUT . . . the problem is . . . doing these things is FUN. In fact, doing them makes you feel a bit rebellious. Your self-talk tells you that you wo...

We humans have a lot of puppy within us. I walk my 4 dogs 3 times every day. My mission is to get all of us outside for a little exercise and for each of the dogs to “do the business” (pee & poop). We have a great routine, but it’s not always smooth and easy. 2 of these canines are 2 year old puppies. Tony & ThorThey are ALL in constant motion for the duration of every walk. So many interesting to things to smell . . . an abundance of Spring toads (which they pick up and then foam at the mouth) . . . other creatures (Squirrels, Chipmunks, Birds, deer and occasionally one of the 2 feral cats living in the Owen Hollow Barn) . . . Low flying aircraft of all shapes and sizes (Some military from Fort Campbell and civilian flying in and out of nearby John C Tune airport) . . . High flying bir...

Spirit works in amazing ways when we listen. Last week, I attended the NINJA Selling Installation at Greater Nashville REALTORS. Dennis Giannetti was our “NINJA Installer”, and he was magnificent as he presented “The System” beginning with lots of mindset work . . . For sure if you want to make a significant shift in your way – your lifestyle – your success, you must first re-wire your brain to perform in a different, more dialed in and productive way. The alternative would be to do what most “normal” people (the trivial many . . . the mass of men and women who lead lives of quiet desperation) who choose the path of insanity by doing all the same things and expecting different results. I have witnessed this many hundreds of times . . . A SUPERB motivational speaker delivers the message ...

Dependable Homebuyers in the Nashville, Tennessee area has created great controversy with area real estate agents. There seems to be great worry that the company is interfering with the status quo for the real estate industry. The top executives of the company have become very familiar with the standards of the market and have begun to target homeowners that are willing to sell their homes directly to them. Once the properties are selected, they make cash offers to the homeowners. In the instances where homeowners accept the offer, closing is set up and takes place within 7 days. This allows a great solution for homeowners who have a need to sell their home quickly and without having to do costly repairs. To get the attention of potential clients, Dependable Homebuyers recently ran an ad ...

In response to a recent article published by a home buying enthusiast that has been met with great failure, Dependable Homebuyers in Nashville published their own article on a finance and investment website. Their article was meant to provide support and encouragement to not only the disappointed author of the article but to others looking to break into the real estate industry as well. Dependable Homebuyers presents great understanding to those that are faced with many circumstances for one reason or another.Evan Roberts, the owner of Dependable Homebuyers, felt compelled to write the article urging the author to take his mistakes and learn from them, coming back stronger than before. Roberts was faced with many of his own failures along his journey into the real estate industry. He vi...

The macho people in the world exude INTENSITY! The marathoners are all about endurance. Teams strive for FLOW! While both of those are “necessary” for high performance in our Spirituality, physical condition, relationships, our work, and our over-all well-being, Consistency is the special sauce. Intensity is our horsepower . . . It’s what pushes us beyond our self-limiting beliefs and capabilities. Endurance keeps us in the game for the long haul . . . This is the diligence, the grit, the determination, the WILL to continue moving things forward even as the world seems to conspire against us.This is our momentum. FLOW is that scarce phenomenon that we crave. It’s when the goal is clear and foremost, and ALL that intensity and endurance peaks with the whole team simultaneously. These mom...

I hope you took good notes. Will you share them with me? I had a schedule conflict, so I could not be there. I really wanted to come, but . . .   Wait! Let me see if I have this right. The event was announced 3 months ago. You were excited about it and registered immediately. In fact, you are the one who encouraged ME to register. Didn’t you have it on your calendar?   Oh! Yes! It was on my calendar, but something came up.   I see! Something more important came up, Eh? I’ll scan my notes and sent them to you.   (Later)   Thanks for the Notes! I received them, but they don’t make any sense. Can we meet sometime, so you can tell me everything?   Um! NO!   (Out of character now)   Which of these 2 people are you? If you’re the one who attended the session, do you feel obligated to drop eve...
