One of the most amazing Christmas light shows you've ever seen is playing nightly at Shadrack Water Sports & RV just off Watt Road in West Knoxville. Over 250,000 colors lights dance to music starting with a peppy song titled "Christmas With A Capital "C" by Go Fish to the more traditional "Silent Night" by Mannheim Steamroller Great Christmas entertainment for the whole family. The Christmas light show is open 6-10 p.m. weekdays, 6-11 p.m. weekends past New Year’s. Admission is $10,00 per carload during the week and $12.00 on weekends. They said over 2,000 cars have toured the grounds and watched the light show since it opened in mid November. Fun for all the some of the proceeds go to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. See the rest of the show at my flagship blog. See all of Knoxville'...

For the next two Saturday nights (July 12th & 19th) the Knoxville Observers Astronomy Club will be hosting a stargazing party at nearby Norris Dam State Park If you're never been to a stargazing pary I guarantee you it will be a delightful experience for all ages. Seeing the Milky Way Galaxy undimmed by city lights is a sight to behold; it looks like a huge river of light flowing across the night skies. And seeing the rings around the planet Saturn, the many moons of Jupiter, and just how red Mars actually appears close up will amaze and delight everyone. This is the Milky Way Galaxy on a moonless night when it's at its brightest. Spectacular! So gather up the family, pack a few snacks, and head on up to Norris Dam State Park either of the next two Saturday nights. The program starts at...

A recent article in Money magazine lists 5 new rules for today’s homebuyers. After reading the article I found that I agree with all 5 of them. New rule 1: DO NOT try to time the bottom of this market. We may be there or close already or not. In any instance it’s very unlikely you’ll hit it at the exact bottom. Case in point; several years ago my wife and I decided to refinance our former home in west Knoxville because mortgage rates were falling. I had 5 different mortgage bankers and myself watching the market trying to figure out where the bottom was. Read the rest of the story here.

Well, spring has official arrived in the greater Knoxville, Tennessee area. Lots of Robins in sight, I mowed our lawn for the 4th time yesterday, and the annual Dogwood Arts Festival is underway.Red Dogwood blossoms in Knoxville, TennesseeBilled as the "best 17 days of spring", Knoxville's Dogwood Arts Festival features lots of great events from music, to art, and best of all, the Dogwood Trails. Our Dogwood trails consist of over 70 miles of scenic drives through seven of Knoxville’s most beautiful and architecturally significant neighborhoods. The 2008 featured trail is Sequoyah Hills, one of my favorites. This year's parade had to be postponed until April 26th due to threatening weather so if you thought you missed it you have another chance. The parade features Knox County high scho...

We've had lots of articles about what makes a successful real estate website and I think most of us can agree that there are 3 key ingredients that must be present to ensure success. Has to be easily findable by buyers and sellersHas to have compelling content to cause visitors to want to stay and return another dayHas to have compelling reasons to cause visitors to contact you and do business with you. Items 2 & 3 can often be combined with a feature that raises the comfort level of your visitors and also gives them a reason to want to contact you and do business with you. In my case I've recently added some audio testimonials to my site from some audio business cards I had made several years ago. I had the 4 testimonials re-recorded in an MP-3 format and places in a couple of highly v...

According to a survey Forbes Magazine conducts annually, Knoxville ranked 5th for the second consecutive year out of 179 major cities surveyed. The 179 cities were ranked for job and income growth, business and living costs, education of the work force, migration trends and quality of life issues such as crime rates and cultural opportunities. No surprise there for the local folks; we've known for years that the greater Knoxville area is a great place to live. We have a very business friendly climate, low cost of living, talented work force, access to great research facilities at nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee, and lots of stuff to do as well as very affordable housing. Raleigh, North Carolina was the number 1 city followed by Provo, Utah, Boise, Ida...
